Overview
For securing small parts while drilling on my bench drill table, I made some simple holddown clamps using a piece of 6mm scrap ply wood.
Build
I traced the profile of the clamps on a sheet of paper from the plan
The traced profile pieces were cutoff and stuck on a scrap piece of 6mm plywood. The piece was large enough for three holddowns.
The parts were cutoff using my jigsaw table to a rough shape
The pieces were stuck together using slow drying epoxy (Standard Araldite).
The holddown clamps were placed on wax paper, clamped to a flat surface (my workbench) and left overnight to dry.
Next day, the edges were sanded down on my disk sander.
The holddown clamps are held on the table using a 4 inch long 1/4 inch bolt. For ease of turning the bolt, I first cut off a 1 inch circular disc using a hole saw from 1/2 inch thick ply. This knob was tightened to the bolt using a 1/4 inch nut.
Used a 3/4 inch dia dowel piece with a washer as a spacer between the bolt and clamp.
For attaching the holddown to the drill table, I drilled a 5/8 inch hole on the drill table and added a T-nut from under the table.
Now I can easily hold the small pieces on the drill table securely.
